I will never forget the "threshold" experience as a child. I was a skinny kid since I was a kid, and I liked to run around and go to the neighbors' houses. At that time, the family had not been demolished, and I was still living in an old house in the countryside. One day I found that the high threshold in front of my house was very challenging, so I stepped on the threshold to play the game of "crossing the single-plank bridge". When my family found out, my grandparents, who had always loved me, also pulled down their faces and scolded me for being wrong.

Later, I learned that the threshold first talked about how the threshold came about: in ancient times, because of the requirements for etiquette, the distinction between inside and outside was strict. The house has a threshold, which is a fence at the door, which can intercept the ground air in the house and prevent it from leaking. If you see a low staircase outside the door, the threshold should be raised, otherwise, the earth air will leak out. From the perspective of home geomancy, it belongs to not gathering wealth.

In traditional architecture, a high threshold is like a wall, which stretches in front of the main entrance, which naturally has many symbolic meanings. The setting of the threshold, one is to separate the house from the outside world, which can not only block the wind and dust, but also keep all kinds of reptiles out, so it has great practical value. Secondly, there is a threshold at the door, symbolizing the erection of a wall to keep all bad things out of the door, especially those ghosts and ghosts, so as to ensure the safety and happiness of the family, and at the same time to be able to hide the wind and gather gas, prevent the leakage of wealth, and raise the wealth of the family, which is also quite important for residential geomancy.

The threshold is also a symbol of the gift of the guest and the host. The so-called entrance to the house reflects the importance that the host attaches to the guests. In ancient times, when guests crossed the threshold to enter the hall, they had to lower their heads and watch their steps to prevent bumping, which was a sign of respect for the host. There is a saying that "if the threshold is folded, there is no inside and outside", indicating that the threshold is the boundary between the inside and outside of the family order. Regarding the threshold, the ancients believed that it could only be crossed in one step, and it was very unlucky to step on it. In ancient China, stepping on the threshold of others is disrespectful to the owner of the house, and there is a saying that the threshold is a symbol of the elders of the family or the head of a household, and it is the head and neck of the family, so there is a saying: do not step on the threshold and do not sit on the bucket. The meaning of the threshold was later extended, because it blocked both wealth and life, so when it was said that a person was not going well, he said "he has met the threshold".

Last Friday was the Winter Solstice, one of the 24 solar terms. For a northerner, eating dumplings is the most important custom during the Winter solstice. Otherwise, your ears will be frozen off. When I was very young, in the Winter Solstice of one year, my mother made a lot of dumplings, at that time I did not know this custom, so I asked my mother why to make so many dumplings. To tell the truth, I really do not like eating dumplings, no matter what stuffing. Mother said to eat dumplings on the Winter Solstice, otherwise the ears will freeze. At that time ,I was very foolish to believe, I ate one dumpling after another, in order to save my ears, although it is painful. But I was happy that I still had two ears. Because my mother made too many dumplings, usually two or three days after the Winter Solstice, our family eats dumplings, which is too painful for me.

But this Winter Solstice is very different, I didn't eat dumplings, because in the south, people usually eat tangyuan,.Last Friday after our one-day class, my roommates and I went to the restaurant to eat small tangyuan, which is much better than dumplings.

The Winter Solstice is the day when the night is the longest and the day is the shortest in the northern hemisphere. I like the Winter Solstice, because after this day, the days in the northern hemisphere will be longer and longer, which means that we are not far away in the warm season. After all, winter is really too cold. During the Winter Solstice, people in the south eat tangyuan, which means completeness and reunion in Chinese culture, while people in the north eat dumplings, because dumplings have the meaning of dispelling cold. In addition, I also learned that in Ningbo, they usually eat sweet potato soup on the Winter Solstice. In Chinese pronunciation, sweet potato is “fanshu”which is similar to the pronunciation of the word "turn over", so it also means that eating sweet potatoes can turn some bad luck over. Chinese people are longing for good fortune, which can be seen from these customs.

Then we have to talk about table manners. Generally, the elders do not let them sit down, and the younger generation cannot sit down first. Even if the younger ones are seated first, we can't pick up food until the older ones start using chopsticks. The hidden culture here is the traditional virtue of China. That is to pay attention to etiquette, know filial piety.

At that time, I was still in primary school, and it was the kite-flying season. During recess, students were flying around the playground with their own kites, trying different ways to put them into the air. At that time, I did not belong to my own kite, I can only follow the students behind to help their kites"adjust posture", in order to fly into the blue sky. That day after school, my grandfather came to pick me up from school, I told him I also want a kite, he said yes, l excitedly went to the side of the stall and began to carefully selected. My mouth kept talking about the shortcomings of these kites. This kite doesn't fly high, this kite doesn't fly well, this kite is ugly... Standing there for a long time, I did not pick out a satisfactory kite. Grandpa said, "babe, I'll go back and make you one myself. It is not only easy to fly to the sky, but also high." My eyes lit up with excitement and I said, "You can make a kite? Really? Then you can make one for me. Go! Go home. Go home and do it now!

Back at home, grandpa took out all the treasures at the bottom of his box, bamboo strips, string, and paper for making kites. Just when I thought we had everything ready, Grandpa said there was one more heavy ingredient--- batter. I don't understand why you need batter to make a kite. Grandpa did not tell me directly but asked me to watch it carefully. Grandpa first set up the frame of the kite, fixed the bamboo strips with string, and then pasted the kite paper on the already shaped bamboo strips. That's where the batter came in. Grandpa put batter on one edge of the kite paper, and then wrapped it around the bamboo on both sides. Then Grandpa asked me if I knew what the batter was for. I said it was glue, but I asked why we didn't just use glue. He said batter was glue when they were kids. The next day I went to school with a kite that my grandpa had made by hand. My kite is not only easy to fly in the sky, but also fly the highest.

Batter or glue, they are just tools used to stick things in different time. Maybe it is not common to stick things with batter now, but it is undeniable that it was used to stick things in the past. Such as spring couplets, Chinese cutting, kites and so on. They were all glued with batter in the past. Maybe this is the change between two generations, and I am lucky enough to witness this change. The Times keep moving forward, people use more and more advanced things, but I want to say, everything that exists has its meaning. If it has its meaning, it will always be used and it will not be replaced.

    Spring Festival

The Spring Festival is the oldest festival in China, and it is a day for the whole country to celebrate and reunite families. As a child of the northern provinces, let's talk about how the northerners celebrate the New Year.

There is also a story about the Spring Festival, legend has it that the monster that lives in the deep sea will run out to eat people the day before the Spring Festival, that is, on Chinese New Year's Eve, but he is afraid of red, so every household will paste the Spring Festival and hang red lanterns during the day on Chinese New Year's Eve, and put red envelopes under the children's pillows at night to prevent the children from seeing the New Year beast and becoming stupid.

We will clean the house in the small year, that is, the twenty-third day of the lunar month, make dumplings at night to worship the god of the stove, and then buy hemp candy in front of the king of the stove, which means that the twenty-third is the day of the king of the stove to heaven, and he will not sue if his mouth is blocked. From Laba Festival to Chinese New Year's Eve, a bowl of Laba porridge to a variety of New Year goods to buy melon seeds, peanuts, candies, dried fruits, etc., the market is crowded.

On the first day of the Lunar New Year, wearing new clothes, waiting for everyone to go to the elders to greet the New Year, red envelopes fill pockets, children set off firecrackers together, and adults catch up together. From the second to the fifth day of the Lunar New Year is the day to visit relatives and friends, and traffic congestion has become a scenic line of the Spring Festival.

The most worth mentioning is the lively joy of the Spring Festival in Shanxi, even the trees are full of colorful lanterns, and at night the streets are colorful, like a colorful dragon. The Lantern Festival is also the highlight of the Spring Festival, where dragon and lion dances go door to door to ward off disasters and receive good luck. There is also the Yangge team jumping around happily. All kinds of lanterns for everyone to enjoy, walking on the street with a strong New Year's flavor, sugar gourd, roasted sweet potato, roasted bun in the lion's mouth.

The Spring Festival is not only a day for family and friends to get together, but also a carrier of traditional culture.

I think each of us is looking forward to the Chinese New Year, which is a grand festival, but for me when I was a child, this festival is a little difficult, because my family had to get up early on the first day of the Chinese New Year.

This for love for me is a big torture, I also wanted to play to escape, but ultimately was defeated by the father's majesty.

Later I specially went to ask my grandfather, why the New Year's day to get up early, he said, the legend of the god of wealth came, so this day we should get up early to put "open the door gun", to meet the arrival of the god of wealth, if sleep late, according to our ancestors, then money will run away.

And there is the custom of paying New Year on the first day of the New Year, people get up early in the morning, put on beautiful clothes, dressed neatly, and then in turn to the long New Year, relatives and friends congratulate each other, elders generally to prepare red envelopes in advance, if others come to home New Year's call, it is easy to make people laugh.

In addition, as the old saying goes, "the fifth day of the New Year, the second day of the red", the first day of the New Year is the first day of the year, the New Year new atmosphere, we get up early means to have a good beginning.

    After knowing this.

I will never resist getting up early again.

                                                                                           Chinese knots

When I was a child,my mother bought some Chinese knots one day. I looked at them. They were red and beautiful. I asked my mom what this is with curiosity, my mother smiled and said these were Chinese knots. Then my mom began to tell the origin and meaning of the Chinese knots.

Chinese knots are a type of intricate and decorative knotting technique. The knots are traditionally made using a single piece of cord or thread. In Chinese, the knot means vigor, harmony and unification. Therefore, this unique Chinese knot artwork has been a popular gift for thousands of years and embodies the best wishes.

After my mother had finished talking about this, I wanted my mother to buy some materials. I said to my mother, "Mom, I want to try to make a Chinese knot by myself." Mom nodded and agreed. After we prepared the material, we started to do it according to the tutorial on the Internet.I followed the information on the Internet step by step, carefully completed the steps around and wear, even the mouth of the atmosphere also dared not breathe. After countless twists and turns, after countless threads, I still didn't make it.The thread in my hand was not knotted. It was totally a mess. The Chinese knot was not easy to do. I wanted to give up. My mother comforted me and said, "Do more to be skilled. Practice makes perfect."Finally, my first Chinese knot was completed with great difficulty.

Since then, I began to understand that it is not easy to make Chinese knots. At the same time, I had a more profound understanding of the charm of traditional Chinese culture and the difficulties of inheritance.Nowadays, more and more young people begin to learn traditional crafts. What we can do is to understand the long history of Chinese civilization, perceive the breadth and depth of Chinese culture, and pass it on well not only in material form, but also in our hearts.

"Red things will not come without invitation, white things will come without invitation" This is widely circulated in the Chinese rural areas of a sentence, in the Chinese rural areas of a long history and local culture under the influence of this unwritten rule.

When a family in the village holds a red event, there will be a special person to inform and ask people to help, if the host family has not invited it, it is absolutely not allowed to go, which is out of consideration for many aspects, such as the local people believe in feng shui, eight characters and time, and another point is the relationship between the host and the guest family. Often the host family will favor close friends and the local team that specializes in the red and white events. This is "Red things will not come without invitation".

When an old man dies in the village, that is, the "white matter" in people's mouth, the children of the old man will set off firecrackers in front of the house, no matter when, as long as people hear the sound of firecrackers, they will come to the door of the old man to mourn, no matter whether there is a holiday or conflict with the old man in this moment will be wiped out. After the fireworks, the children of the elderly will go to their relatives' homes to kneel down and report the funeral and invite them to attend the funeral of the elderly. After the completion of these two stages, people will gather at the elderly's home for their wake, childhood friends will recall the deeds of the deceased, and even tears will fall down, while others will exchange life conditions, and everyone will give up everything at this moment, as if this is the most sacred thing. At this time, the children will ask for a funeral for the old man. This is "white things come without invitation".

This sentence is one of the symbols of the unity and long history of our Chinese nation, as well as an important part of local culture, constituting an important part of rural life in China. It is an unwritten rule. However, with the development of The Times and the advancement of modernization, rural China seems to be disintegrating, and many similar traditions are disappearing. And we also need to protect the traditional culture hidden in our life.

After a heavy snow, one of the Chinese solar terms which calls winter solstice came.My grandmother sent me a message, “Have you eaten glutinous rice balls today, dear?”Obviously,I had forgotten it.

Glutinous rice balls,it is also called “tangyuan” in Chinese.Since I was a little child, my grandmother has cooked glutinous rice balls for our family on the winter solstice.Once I asked my grandmother, “why do we always eat glutinous rice balls? Why don’t we eat dumplings or other food?”I didn’t understand. At the moment,my grandma gently answered, “Look at the shape of the rice balls. It looks like a round, right? It is a symbol of family reunion.”In my grandmother’s words, the character “yuan”means reunion.

Another winter solstice had arrived.I was not with my family this year and didn’t eat Glutinous rice balls either. But the call from my grandmother made me feel like my family and I have never been separated.

When I was a child, I lived in the countryside where every household had a stove(灶). Whenever my grandmother cooked in the kitchen, I would run to the stove and use tongs to hold the firewood and start the fire. Once, my grandfather saw me and told me that a stove is a sacred and important thing in the countryside, and I cannot play with fire in front of it.

Every year on the 23rd or 24th of the twelfth lunar month, the Kitchen God will descend to earth, so every household must offer sacrifices to the Kitchen God. The Kitchen God, also known as the Kitchen God, is responsible for managing the stoves of various households and is therefore worshipped. So, if people want to pray for blessings and avoid disasters, they must show respect to the Kitchen God, such as not using the stove to burn incense, not hitting the stove, not placing knives and axes on the stove, not saying strange things, complaining, crying, calling, singing in front of the stove, not sending dirty things into the stove to burn, and so on.

When I was very small, about 6 years old. I was in my hometown Anhui.I liked playing with my friends in front of the house.Once I was enjoying myself so much that I forgot what my mother had taught me some costoms. When I went home for dinner at noon, I stepped on the threshold to entered the house. Probably thought it was funny .I jumped on it.At that time, my mother did not scold me immediately, but told me to hurry down with a serious look. I looked into his eyes and thought something was wrong. So I hurrily jumped off the threshold. After the meal, my mother asked me to sit down and have a chat with her.She told me that stepping on the threshold was an act of disrespect to the ancestors. It is a village custom to be observed.I was confused but didn't ask at that moment.I think this is a superstitious and unscientific costom.Later, when I had a certain amount of scientific knowledge, I found that the seemingly unreasonable customs were actually protecting our lives.I learned that the threshold, as part of the house, holds the house in place.Often stepping on the threshold will lead to an imbalance in the house and cause great harm to the stability of the house. Our ancestors wanted to protect our lives with this custom.Perhaps in their time there was no scientific explanation for the shorter life span of houses that were frequently stepped on threshold. But he wants his children to be safe.So there is this custom. So we have to respect the traditional customs, of course, the customs that deserve to be respected. Sometimes, respecting customs is also protecting our own life!

When I was a child, I often saw my mother holding a piece of cloth to thread a needle, and after a while, there were many lifelike patterns on it. I was curious and often pestered my mother to see her embroidery and asked her what it was. My mother touched my head with a gentle smile and said, "This is Su embroidery."

"Su Embroidery? What's that?" "I asked. My mother said, "Do you know the four embroiders?" I shook my head.

"People call Su embroidery, Xiang embroidery, Shu embroidery and Yue embroidery the" four major embroidery in ancient China ". Su embroidery is the first of the four great embroideries. Flowers, grass, fish and wood are often used as the embroidery surface, because it looks beautiful when finished and the color is very elegant. Compared with other embroidery works, Su embroidery is the best of the best." "My mother said. "So I see." I nodded suddenly.

My mother picked me up and pointed to the pattern she had repaired for me and continued: "Since the Tang Dynasty in China, the dragon robes of the emperors were also completed with embroidery. The silk scarves and handkerchiefs of dignitaries are embroidered with exquisite embroidery works, most of which are dominated by Suzhou embroidery, supplemented by Hunan embroidery, which shows the popularity of ancient Suzhou embroidery. As the saying goes, "Above there is heaven, below there is Su resistance". In Suzhou, an ancient water town in the south of the Yangtze River, Su embroidery is the soul of the place. Su embroidery is unique. "" Oh, mom, you are so brilliant. You can embroider such beautiful patterns, can you teach me? I also want to try it." 'I said, looking up at my mother. She smiled and grabbed my hand. "Sure, but be careful."

Some time ago, when winter was coming, I swiped a video on Douyin, the copy was "Winter Four-Piece Set", and attached a picture, including today's protagonist Rock Sugar Gourd.I had a craving for it. One Wednesday afternoon, my roommate and I went to the mall and bought a bunch of rock sugar gourds as well.
Sugar gourd is also a favorite food for me. When I was a child, I went to a temple fair or shopping with my grandparents, and I would always clamor to buy a bunch of red rock sugar gourds on the side of the road.It has a bright red appearance and a mouth-watering sweet and sour taste. Now, there are many kinds of rock sugar gourds, some with fruits, and some with glutinous rice, purple sweet potato puree, and so on. But I still feel that the hawthorn retains the original taste. But very few people have traced its origins, including me. So, taking this opportunity, I decided to get to know it better.
It is said that more than 800 years ago, the concubine beloved by the Southern Song Emperor Song Guangzong suffered from a disease, and even though the imperial doctors tried their best, they were still helpless. The concubine was getting haggard day by day, and Song Guangzong was very anxious. So, he decided to send a message to the people to find a good doctor to help his concubine.Hearing the news, a quack doctor was a little compassionate, so he asked to enter the palace to meet him. The quack doctor boiled rock sugar and hawthorn fruit together, and ate a few pieces for the concubine every day. Soon after, the concubine got better.Song Guangzong was naturally overjoyed and unfolded his worried eyebrows.Later, the method of boiling rock sugar and hawthorn fruit together spread to the people, and the common people skewered the hawthorn fruit and dipped it in boiled syrup in order to facilitate carrying and tasting, and in this way, the rock sugar gourd was born! Since then, people have begun to see rock sugar gourd stalls on the streets, just like the "Internet celebrity" delicacy on the Internet today.
It is recorded in the "Chronicles of the Yanjing Years" that the rock sugar gourd is made of bamboo skewers, hawthorn, begonia fruit, bean paste, etc., dipped in rock sugar, sweet, crisp and cold. Rock sugar gourd has the functions of appetizing, nourishing beauty, increasing intelligence, eliminating fatigue, and clearing heat.
The gourd shape of the rock sugar gourd, with the homophonic word "fortune and wealth", signifies good fortune and happiness. When we see strings of ice-sugar gourds, we associate them not only with red-hotness, reunion and sweetness, but also symbolizes the tightly knit stringing together of these beautiful elements to bring us a taste of joy and happiness. In a way: it may even represent a certain kind of simple and peaceful, yet not too historical, city life.

When Loutus was just a little girl , the Chinese New Year Festival was her favourite part of a year .On that day ,she will put on her beautiful new clothes ,eat the most hearty food ,and the family will sit in front of the TV to watch the Spring Festival Gala.

On the next day ,parents will wake up Lotus early .The breakfast will be a soup which was cooked with glutinous rice balls and rea dates .Then they will pay New Year's greetings to each other ,and the elders will also give red envelopes to express their ardent expectations for the younger generation .

However , many years later ,Lotus isno longer the little girl .She came to live in a big city in the south . Another Spring Festival is approaching ,and she finds that there is a big difference between the south and the north . On the night of New Year's Eve , they don't eat dumplings but rice cakes.

Although there is no lively temple fair in the north ,they will worship their ancestors .Therefore , even if there are differences in the customs between the north and the south ,they are all local characteristics and have necessary meanings . As the saying goes ,"When in Rome , do as the Romans do ". We should accept cultural diversity and respect cultural differences .

As a city tree in Chengdu, ginkgo trees can be seen everywhere in Chengdu, and so is my hometown. The Sansu Temple is full of cultural heritage. The buildings on the other side have an antique beauty. The temple is surrounded by ginkgo trees. In summer, the green area is a good place for the elderly to relax and entertain. In autumn, they all become gold. Yellow, many young people come to take photos. The ginkgo tree is a viewing plant, which is what I have always known about it. My junior high school is next to the Sansu Temple. When autumn comes, my grandmother always comes to pick me up and go home with me, holding a big bag in her hand. "what was in the bag,?" she answered "It is white fruit. "I was very puzzled. "what kind of fruit is this? Why haven't you bought it?" but Grandma said "You can see it everywhere. It's the fruit of the ginkgo tree. "I've never cared about it before, and I don't know why my grandmother brought it back, but I didn't ask much. A few days later, the ginkgo at home became more and more read, and I always felt a bad smell at home. I thought it was a pet cat that went to the toilet everywhere again, so I launched a carpet-style search. Finally, I focused on a bag of ginkgo. I picked up the bag and was ready to send it into the trash can and was stopped by my grandmother. Grandma said "that my fruit had not been dried yet. Why did I throw it away? "I'm very confused. The fruit stinks and no one wants it all over the street. Grandma smiled and said that they didn't understand. This white fruit has a lot of benefits and can also be sold for money. No one picks it up, but it's troublesome. I looked at my grandmother's hands again and found that they had molted. I asked her what was going on. I didn't have it before. Grandma said that it is normal to pick up the ginkgo. The more smelly the gink, the fresher it will be. Every time you cough and stew mutton together, it will have a good effect. This is a traditional Chinese medicine material. At the same time, I am surprised and proud of our traditional Chinese medicine culture. The selection of traditional Chinese medicine from nature is the great cultural heritage of the Chinese nation. Nowadays, many young people do not know traditional Chinese medicine in life, let alone inherit traditional Chinese medicine culture. Our traditional Chinese medicine culture has also played a great role in the COVID-19 epidemic. , I think we should take the initiative to understand and learn about the culture of traditional Chinese medicine and use our knowledge to strive to bring the culture of traditional Chinese medicine to the world.

Later, my brother's life year, my mother also bought his brother a cotton-padded jacket, and later, Grandma also has, mother also has, everyone in their own year of life dressed red and hot. Until now, I know, benmingnian wear red clothes, is the Chinese traditional culture, because there is a "benmingnian commit Taishui," so people will be in their benmingnian that year, wear red to ward off evil, the auspicious color, also means prosperous, smooth, good luck !

The Dragon Boat Festival is one of the traditional Chinese festivals. On this day, some places have to eat "five reds". One of the "reds" is red spinach, which is also the dish I did not like to eat when I was a child.

In childhood, the Dradon Boat Festival came. There was no doubt that the dish was on the table again.Although I didn't like to eat it,I had to eat a little because it is one of the "five reds".Under the strong persuation of my parents,I ate a little with a frown. After eating,I asked them why the Dragon Boat Festival must eat the red spinach."Because eating the red spinach at the Dragon Boat Festival is to take its vatality. It can clear heat and detoxify, remove dampness and stop dysentery."Dad replied.

I have eaten more red spinach since I understood its benefits.

When I was young, I didn't know why we had to go back to our hometown to set off firecrackers, give red envelopes, and eat the New Year's Eve dinner. The first reason I heard was because my grandmother told me, and she said it to me alongside the couplet.

At the beginning of the world, there was a monster named Nian, which appeared every time in winter, and it entered every household to destroy and eat people, and the world was in chaos for a while. But it is only afraid of red things and the sound of firecrackers, later ah people in order to drive it away, to this time, every family will hang red lanterns, set off firecrackers to protect their families, so we have to spend Spring Festival.

And that's just one explanation. Growing up, I heard many different versions of why we celebrate Chinese New Year. But I am sure that no matter what the story is, the happiness of the Spring Festival has been handed down from ancient times, and the reunion gene in the bones of Chinese people has also been handed down from generation to generation

There are all kinds of dishes on the table at parties. One of the dishes that comes up at every party is duck eggs. When I was young, I was not sensible, and I always took a seat before adults, and I must be closest to the dishes I like to eat. Once I was running slowly, so I picked a random seat. In front of this seat lay duck eggs. When the adults told me that I couldn't sit here, I was confused. Later they told me that the duck eggs were placed in a very special position, only older people or higher status can sit. Only later did I realize that the location of the meal also reflects the breadth and depth of Chinese culture.

I have been practicing Chinese calligraphy with a soft brush since elementary school. When I was young, I only understood the repetitive practice day after day. But as I grew older, I gained new understanding and insights. Calligraphy is an ancient art form in China that uses brushes, ink, paper, and inkstone to express the essence and charm of words. Although calligraphy may seem simple, its underlying philosophy and rhythm fascinated me as I grew up.

In order to gain a deeper understanding of calligraphy, during my high school years, I decided to learn from a master. My uncle is a renowned calligrapher, and under his guidance, I embarked on a long and challenging learning journey starting from basic strokes to gradually comprehend the essence of calligraphy. With time passing by, my calligraphy skills made significant progress. I started experimenting with creating my own works and incorporating my own insights into them.

Once when writing the character "永" (forever), no matter how much I copied it according to the model booklets, it always lacked that touch of charm. My uncle told me to write it in my own style. It was then that I realized the stroke techniques involved in this character were just like life itself - full of ups and downs and twists and turns. We will encounter various difficulties but need to maintain a calm mindset in order to cope with them.

At that time, I was facing pressure regarding further education choices; practicing calligraphy helped me quiet down my mind for contemplating about the future. Afterwards,I actively participated in activities related to calligraphy such as lectures, exhibitions, and writings, introducing Chinese hidden culture to more people so they can appreciate the charm of calligraphy.

Calligraphy is an ancient art form containing profound Chinese culture which is worth exploring deeply。I also hope that in future work involving cross-cultural communication,I can tell compelling stories about China's rich heritage.

When I was a kid, we had guests. My parents would ask me to pour tea for the guests. At first, I would pour a large cup of tea and carefully serve it to the guests, worrying about the water spilling. But then my father saw the water I poured for the guest, a full cup or cold water, in the face of my proud little face, my father and the guest could not help but laugh. Later, my father explained to me that we Chinese people have a saying, "tea is full and leave" to pour tea to guests can not be filled.

And cold tea is not poured to the guests, hot tea can reflect the hospitality of the host family. Chinese people are polite people, this is the Chinese way of hospitality.

Shadow puppetry is a type of folk theatre in which silhouettes of characters made of animal skins or cardboard are used to act out stories. Behind a white curtain, the artists manipulate the filmmakers while telling the story to a locally popular tune, accompanied by percussion instruments and strings. Its popularity is extremely wide, and a variety of shadow puppets are formed due to the different vocal cavities performed in different places.
Shadow puppetry is an ancient traditional art of Chinese folk, and the old Beijingers call it "donkey shadow puppetry". According to historical records, shadow puppetry began in the Western Han Dynasty, flourished in the Tang Dynasty, flourished in the Qing Dynasty, and spread to West Asia and Europe during the Yuan Dynasty.

Five days ago was the Winter Solstice. On this day,the northerners would eat jiaozi, while the southerners would eat tangyuan.

At first,I thought it was just an ordinary winter solstice for another year, though it was the first one I had in college, until I saw the WeChat Moment my senior high school headteacher,Mr.Chen posted."Winter Solstice for another year,"he wrote in his moments, illustrated with some pictures of the high school freshmen he tought this new semester.

That's a routine we had in our high school on the Winter Solstice. We make dumplings by ourselves and eat dumplings together. From making the dough, resting the dough, making the wrappings to cooking finally, all the steps were done by us together.

It was definitely one of the most memorable days of my high school life.

And one of the most impressive parts for me is the kneading step.Since none of us six(We were at a table in groups of six.) were able to kneading the dough at that time,it was my math teacher who helped us solve the puzzle.

My math teacher was really a great family man.He loved his wife very much,so he was good at doing the housework. He used to tell us a lot about himself and his wife during our high school life.Their love was so enviable. And my headteacher Mr.Chen also plays a very important role in my life. He's really responsible.I think it is my great honor to meet such a teacher in my life!It is no exaggeration that it's the blessing of my life!

Now,on the college campus,I think of my high school again.I think about lots of people and things, ranging from my two high school headteachers(I had a banding in my senior year and I was separated from the original class.),my math,English, politics, history and geography teachers to my good friends,my classmates…

For a moment,a yearning came to my heart. How I miss my high school life!

As stated in that famous ancient poem,

"Love not your golden dress,I pray,

More than your youthful golden hours."

      Cherish the time!Seize the moment!Please!

In rural China, we can catch a glimpse of many hidden traditional Chinese culture, with the rapid development of science and technology. The environment has changed, but the hidden Chinese culture has not changed.

I still remember that story, my hometown in a rural area of Anhui Province, at that time, every family was very close to each other, the longest is only 3 meters apart, leaving a corridor in the middle for parking or something.

Every festival, or which has to buy some novel things, will share with each other, I give you some bacon, you will give me some local chicken eggs, it can be said that the Chinese people have enthusiasm, kindness and the good virtue of sharing, no matter which village has difficulties, will be the whole village, raise money, contribute to the effort, it can be said that as long as you are in the village, you will not be unable to go on.

That year, an old man in the village fell ill, we all called him Grandpa Liu, his daughter-in-law and son were out to work, he was the only one in the village, one night, Grandpa Liu fell ill, launched a high fever in the middle of the night, until the morning to deliver eggs to the neighbor found Grandpa Liu's condition, he and other people in the village sent Grandpa Liu to the hospital.

    That's the story I remember.

When i was seven years old the thing that what happened i still can not forget. One day several guests came to the house, and their parents treated them warmly. When it was time to eat, I went to eat along with the other guests. I sat next to my parents and then I started to eat, but my mother stopped me. I was confused, so I asked my mother "why did you stop me". Then after I said that, several of the elders started smiling at me and I began to realize that I might have done something wrong. My mother told me that "the younger generation should not move chopsticks before the elders". She went on to tell me that it was actually a courtesy, a sign of respect. Before that, I always thought it was an insignificant thing, I didn't think it was important to wait for someone to eat, but it was only after that that I realized that it can actually show a person's courtesy. Now, every time I eat, I always pay attention to the behavior of the elders, I don't start until they start eating.    bjh

When I was a child, I was very puzzled about hanging lanterns, posting couplets, and setting off firecrackers in every household during the Chinese New Year. I don't know the reason behind it. Later, I heard the story of Nian. There was a monster called Nian who often came down on the first day of the first lunar month to harm the world. However, it was afraid of flames, red objects, and loud noises. In order to drive it away, people hung lanterns, pasted couplets, and set off firecrackers on the first day of the first lunar month.
